The K2 6 Speed pole is the top-of-the-line high-performance composite pole. The 2010-11 model is built with the most durable Exo 12 carbon fiber technology. Twelve strings of carbon fiber mechanically applied to the length of shaft provide the lightweight benefits of carbon fiber with durability previously found only in aluminum poles. The chrome grip is finished with hand-stitched leather for improved handling. The 6 Speed poles come complete with hard-and-soft snow baskets for various conditions. New for 2010-11 this model includes a padded, ergonomic adjustable-strap system offering skiers better support and comfort.

Comments about K2 6 Speed Ski Poles 2011:
This is my second pair of 6 speed poles. Lets start at the tip. The tip is round and filed so you have 4 points that make contact with the snow. Works well.
Basket: the standard basket has been beefed up with heavier spokes than the original. This makes it much more durable. Powder baskets come with and work well.
Shaft: The shaft of this pole is amazing. It flexes just enough to absorb shock but remains rigid enough that you can push without losing energy while skating, due to excessive flexing. Super strong!
Grip: Grips are awesome! Super comfortable.
Strap: On this year's model they strap ties into the grip horizontaly instead of vertically. I really like this as the strap lays nicely between the grip and hand while holding the pole. However, that is the only good point to this strap. K2 went from a 3/4" strap, in previous years, and replaced it with a 1/2" strap. Thus there is less strap supporting the hand under the index finger and thumb. The 1/2" strap then is attatched on one end to a wider support that runs acrossed the back of the hand. The other end of the strap slides through this support. The support bunches up when you place the strap on your wrist and requires constant adjustment if wearing spring weight gloves. K2 should have stayed with the 3/4" strap imo. I went from hating this strap to strongly disliking it. If you skate with your hands gripping the top of the pole, hold on tight because the strap will be off of your wrist in a flash.

Bought this ski poles to complement my new Atomic skis and I'm very happy with the purchase. This is the top of line K2 ski poles and lightweight (carbon) and good looking poles.
