Almost 20 years ago on the scorching-hot west Texas plains of Wichita Falls, a former paramedic and novice cyclist, Michael Eidson participated in his first Hundred bicycle race. He saw how dangerous it was to reach for a water bottle while racing and after the race went home and created the backpack with a water pouch and straw, named the Camelbak because of its shape.
