Line Mr. Pollard's Opus Skis 2012 |
An Opus is a great work of art or literature, especially the single greatest work of a particular artist. Anyone who has seen Eric Pollard ski or anyone who has skied one of his designs would likely agree that Pollard is an artist. So it speaks volumes that he has named this ski Mr. Pollard's Opus, 13 years of development and over 70 different prototypes has resulted in what Mr. Pollard considers his best work ever. Now it means nothing to speak a big game and not back it up, fortunately the Opus is not one to fall short. While this is a bit of a departure from the previous EP Pro, in that it doesn't feel like a wet noodle, the Opus may well be the most versatile powder oriented ski on the market. At 118mm underfoot there are plenty of skis wider and with at reasonable 25cm by 15mm Early Rise in the tip and tail there are ski with more rocker but few can touch the quick and powerful combination that the Opus has. With a scant 17.2 meter radius at 185cm the Opus is not your straight line dragster, rather it's more the perfectly balanced sports car that puts a smile on your face where ever you happen to venture. Thin Tip, G-Cut Geometry, Symmetrical Flex, and a near symmetrical sidecut keep things light and nimble while the Macroblock core and full sidewall construction add power and a silky smooth feel. The Opus should be in consideration for anyone looking for a true one ski quiver.

Comments about Line Mr. Pollard's Opus Skis 2012:
Got to explore the wild west a bit this year at Jackson Hole for the first time. To be honest, I felt cheated a bit because of the lack of pow, but had a great time and the Mr. Pollard Opus skis performed as expected even with out a lot of snow. good carving and nice floatation even in the skimpy powder available.

I'm Adam and I was just skiing on the Line Opus. This was a ski that really surprised me, for as light as it is being really stable. Likes to smear, likes to float, good pillow line ski but it also held an edge really well when it was time to get back to the lift. I give it a five out of five.

Hey it's Hunter here with the Line Mr.Pollards Opus. A lot of changes in the ski from the previous EP Pro. It's been slimmed down, the rocker profile has been reduced a little bit. The whole ski has been stiffened up and man as far as I'm concerned all the changes are excellent. Five-star ski, I'd review it higher if I could. Super light for how stable it is, the ski has great edge grip on hard snow and even ice. In trees and tight conditions the center mount and nearly symmetrical side cut you can flick it around and make this ski do whatever you want unlike the last generation of it. You don't tip flap at any kind of speed, it's just an awesome soft snow playful big mountain performer.

Comments about Line Mr. Pollard's Opus Skis 2012:
Hi I'm Kevin. I just got off the brand new Line Mr. Pollards Opus. This ski is outstanding. I've owned every ski that Pollards ever come up with, starting back to the Elizabeth, that the original EP pros which are great in powder but their way to soft for all mountain. This thing absolutely blew my mind, hands down this will be the ski I'm on next year. It just absolutely can rail on the groomers, it's soft, it's not too soft though. It's got some nice rebound, a lot of snap which some of the soft skis have been lacking in the past. I mean it just skis much shorter with the early taper, it's got the early rise, not as much as the original EP Pro but just enough when you're skiing powder it's going to float really easy, the tips going to push up. Very smooth, very stable, tip does chatter in the early rise but most skis with this much rise are going to do that but it doesn't make you feel skittish or not trustworthy of the ski. So hands-down best ski I've skied on the tests. Five out of five stars.

Hey Thom here with the Line Mr. Pollards Opus. It's one of Eric Pollards pro models for this season. Kind of stepping in and replacing the EP pro but it's a very, very different ski. 5/5 here, it goes on the edge real easily for something as big as it is. 118 under foot but it will actually turn pretty quick and come around under the body real fast so if you need short fall line turns, it's good for that but with a little bit of early rise in the tip and tail it's still going to smear when you're in the softer snow and it's going to allow you to do any type of turn you want. Definitely for the soft snow desiring all mountain ripper.

Comments about Line Mr. Pollard's Opus Skis 2012:
Trey here with Line's Mr. Pollards Opus. This is a true powder ski. It's almost center mounted and for a ski of that design usually all you want to do is be in really deep stuff but this ski even on hard packed and even on the the really crusty stuff you still have control over it. Very stable under foot, tons of playfulness in the tip and tail and you can still kind of load energy out if you need to. If you get in a tight spot, no problem. I give this ski 5/5.
