The Access 80 is a new boot from Salomon this season. The Quest Access Series has a wider fit than the Quest Series, but the same great sidecountry ability. The Salomon My Custom Fit Sport Liner is stiffer than that of the Access 70 and cushy. The Woolmetal insulated liner is a blend of wool and metallic polyester to keep feet warm and comfortable. Ride and Hike Technology releases the upper cuff from the lower to provide some flex for skinning and hiking up hill for a short sidecountry tour. Lightweight with durable toe and heel pads that grip better on ice, rock and firm snow. Not just for sidecountry skiing the Quest Access 80 has a wide fit in both the forefoot, and the cuff, if these are problem areas for you this would be a good boot. The Ratchet Buckle gives you 4mm of travel to get the fit in the cuff of the boot just right. The Salomon Quest Access 80 is a great boot for someone who has been venturing in to the uncontrolled terrain that has a wider foot and calf. As always do not leave the safety of the resort boundaries with out a shovel, probe, transceiver, partner, and the knowledge to use them.
