The D2 VF 73 was built to be a tool for beginner and intermediate skiers to break out of the cruiser mold and learn to properly carve their skis. By using double deck, or D2, technology Atomic was able to make the VF 73 have a very dynamic and progressive flex that sort of adapts to whatever turn shape and speed you happen to be skiing at. As a result the VF 73 is comfortable sliding and cruising along but when you speed up and tilt the VF 73 on to edge it becomes a completely different ski hooking up and pulling through the turn. By using a Denoslite core the VF 73 is very light and easy to put on edge as well so not only does it help once you are on edge it helps you get there. In addition to the D2 construction the addition of Smartrak binding integration and the slim 73mm waist give extra power and control to the skier to make the VF 73 less fatiguing. While the D2 VF 73 is the perfect ski to help more timid or new skiers push their ability it also works wonders for more casual advanced skier who prefer hard packed and groomed terrain. So, not only with the D2 VF 73 give you all the support to help improve your skiing it has enough guts to stick around once you get there.

Comments about Atomic D2 VF 73 Skis with XTO 12 Smartrak Bindings 2012:
Stable and fast skis on groomed firm tracks. Absorb vibrations very well. Effortless in short turns at mid speed. Easy turn and save energy. Best when you press harder. Restore and ready for the next turn instantly. Too firm, thus not good for moguls. Best for their original purpose - groomed tracks. I give them 4 stars to leave some room for improvement, although they were excellent to me.

Hi, this is Trey, with Atomic's VF73 Doubledeck. Concept is that it is two skis in one, it definitely worked that way. I'm gonna give this ski 4 out of 5 stars. Fantastic ski for solid intermediate to casual advanced skier. Definitely front side of the mountain ski, but you can turn it quick if you get forward and try to push on it a little bit. It doesn't jump you around, but it's nice and quick. Because it turns real easy if you stand straight up on it or get more of a balance stance, you can make a nice long cruising turns, its quick edge to edge. 73 underfoot, I think it's a great ski for the guy that wants to get out in the Midwest or may be on the front side of the East Coast, where you want something that's nice smooth predictable and fun at the same time. Really a good price point at under $700

Hey, Thom here with the Atomic Doubledeck VF73. Really impressed with this ski and its category. I give it a five out of five. It turns really short, really snappy. The 167 that I have today, which is normally a lot shorter than I like to ski. It held surprisingly well and you can open up the radius pretty easily on it too. It absolutely does what it is supposed to, for your front side skier. Intermediate through mid-advanced that's looking for a nice snappy carving ski, really looking to push that front side driven carve type turn short fall line style skiing, this is a great option.

Hey, I'm Sean. I just got done skiing the Atomic D2 VF 73 ski. It's a carving ski, the VF stands for the varial flex in it. I give this ski a 4 out of 5 stars. It's going to be a great ski for an intermediate to advanced skier that wants to mostly just go on groomers. On the side of it has another top sheet, it's the varial flex core. The flex of the ski changes as you flex it. Tthe harder you ski it the more it flexes and adjusts so you can carve into turns easier. I found it to be super simple to carve into turns, initiated super easy. It rebounded for me perfectly, going into the next curvy turn. Overall it's a fun ski, but it's going to be that ski that you're going to want more than one pair of skis. You're going to want your all Mountain ski and this groomer ski. Again I give this 4 out of five stars, it was a really fun ski to be on. It's going to be for that intermediate to advanced skier.

Hi, my name is Jesse. I just skied the Atomic D2 VF73. It's a great little ski for an intermediate to advanced skier. Going down just a small slope hill they are not the greatest. You really need to get'em down a long hill, otherwise they really don't carve the way they really should. For groomers so I really only go with that on these. Overall this is a great ski, if you love speed and everything like that. I give it a 4/5 stars and it's really a lot of fun once you get it full speed.

Hi, I'm EJ. This is the Atomic D2 in a 167 length. Towards a intermediate to advanced skiers. I'd say a lightweight expert would dig this ski to. Front side mostly ski conditions. A little bit of width, 73 mm wide under foot. This is responsive and dynamic, it's not going to give you a lot of punch so the expert level carver is going to be a little bit disappointed. But I'd give this ski a 4 1/2 stars. Geared towards the intermediate to advanced level skier and for that a great bang for the buck, have a great ski day.
