Improving and adapting technology is the name of the game for Atomic. The Smoke represents this with some innovative technology put into a ski with a mellow and predictable flex. Upgraded from the original version with Adaptive Rocker and Step Down Sidewall construction, the Smoke offers the latest in ski technology, dialing it in for beginner skiers. Adaptive Rocker means that the Smoke features a small amount of rocker to the tip of the ski. The result is a ski tip that will not catch or hang up in crud and soft snow but will engage a turn with power and ease. The Step Down Sidewall uses cap construction in the tip and tail areas protecting from damage and adding forgiveness; and incorporates sidewall construction in the portion under the binding to improve damping, shock absorption, and therefore increasing edge hold. The lightweight Cap Fiber further reduces weight and delivers a smooth consistent feel through the turn. By adding a Lightrak binding system you are left with an exceptionally light, predictable ski with the goal of turning any beginner or aspiring intermediate into a confident skier.

These are really a great looking ski. They are very smooth on all surfaces.
Im just getting back into skiing and these are a great all around ski that do well on a variety of trails. I was surprised at how well they responded when pushed to the max.
I'd definitely recommend them for anyone, especially if you are just starting out.

Side note, don't get the "Ski Teching" service - it delayed shipment of the package by a week. I had to upgrade to 3 day and eventually overnight shipping to get them in time for a trip that I had planned.

This unit has all the new technology and features of a $1200+ skis except it is 1/3 of the cost.
