The K2 Nordic series skates are designed to give skaters a serious workout. The special feature of the Nordic Workout skates is in the wheels. The wheels are made by automobile tire maker Continental. Black high-grip rubber material ensures that skaters have an increased grip on the road even if the surface is wet after rain or light snow. The special material also offers increased resistance to the skating motion, multiplying the skating effort and calorie burn. The third wheel on both skates are mounted with a special synthetic core. When the axel is tightened, the core presses against the hub of the wheel and the bearing, offering extreme resistance to rotation. This friction is so real that the third wheel does not spin freely. The best part about this set up is that you can convert the Nordic skate into a standard skate simply by replacing the wheels. The K2 Nordic skate is inspired by Nordic skiing. Some users of this skate also own and use Nordic skating poles, which mimic the skiing motion, engaging the upper-body and shoulder muscles during the skate and increasing the intensity of the workout.
