At extremely cold temperatures the advantages of fluorocarbons begin to diminish. However when humidity is very high, i.e. above 80%, and is very cold, the high fluorocarbon content of HF4 makes it an excellent wax. In these conditions HF4 is so effective that Cera powders are not necessary. HF4 also serves as a great barrier against base burn if layered with warmer temperature waxes when additives are put into warmer wetter snow to prevent melt off. The firm crystal structure bonds to the harsh edges of chemicals and fertilizers, but should not be used as a final coat, it is best as a preparatory coat or blended 1 to 2 with a temperature accurate wax.
