I already have a single sportube case but because of my ever expanding collection of skis, i needed to add a double sportube case.
Firstly, for the price the double should be better constructed. Alignment is difficult because of the flimsy edges at each end of the tube ( Front tube and rear tube ) but once aligned they slide in easy and then it's secure and ready to lock.
Which brings me to my second gripe.. included in your case is a metal clip that you poke through 1 of the holes to secure the front and rear case together. Right beside that hole is another hole for you to put a lock to lock your sportube up.
However the hole for the metal clip and the locking hole do not align at all. You can do one or the other BUT not both. Once you clip in the metal clip the hole for the lock is non existant.
I had to drill additional holes so that i get several hole combinations for various lengths with the 2 holes aligned.
For this price i don't think that one needs to be doing any DIY on the sportube, it should've been thought out by the manufacturer.
Having said all that though, once the holes are drilled and the 2 cases slid in together and locked, it's the MOST secure piece of kit that one can have for traveling with skis etc
i still have to recommend this product because there is nothing out there that can beat it at this point in time.

purchased sportube for transporting skis on an airplane to Utah. Very happy with the gear as used for intended purposes, including for transporting form airpor to ski resort in a full size car. Very convenient and protects equipment as it should.

This will be used to store 2 pairs of skis and for transporting with travel. The unit will fit 2 pairs with poles when packed correctly. The material is a little too flimsy. When a heavier pair of skis is strapped in and the tube is turned the sides bend and the two half pieces of the unit will not slide together. I expected more for the price.
